Pack and organize your belongings

  1. Create a packing plan: Make a list of all the items you need to pack and organize them by room. This will help you keep track of your progress and ensure that you don’t forget anything.
  2. Gather packing materials: Collect boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, and any other materials you will need to pack your items. Make sure you have enough materials to pack all of your belongings.
  3. Sort through your belongings: Go through each room and sort your items into three piles: items to keep, items to donate or sell, and items to throw away. This will help you declutter and reduce the amount of stuff you need to pack and move.
  4. Pack room by room: Start packing one room at a time, starting with the least used rooms first. Pack similar items together, and label each box with the contents and the destination room.
  5. Protect fragile items: Use bubble wrap, packing paper, or foam sheets to protect delicate items such as dishes, glassware, and electronics.
  6. Use small boxes for heavy items: Put heavier items such as books, tools, and appliances in small boxes to make them easier to carry.
  7. Leave essentials out: Pack a box or bag with essentials such as toiletries, a change of clothes, and any medications you may need during the move. Keep these items with you during the move, rather than packing them in a moving truck.
  8. Keep important documents with you: Make copies of important documents such as passports, birth certificates, and insurance documents. Keep the copies with you during the move and store the originals in a safe place.
